Resident Assistant & Peer Navigator Application
If you are interested in becoming a Resident Assistant and/or Peer Navigator, you must:
- Be in good academic and disciplinary standing with MCC.
- Be a full-time undergraduate student for the 2024-25 school year.
- Have completed at least 1 semester at MCC as a full-time matriculated student (transfer students are eligible, but must meet GPA requirement).
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Resident Assistant Responsibilities
- Serve as a role model and guide referring students to college resources.
Participate in weekday and weekend duty rotations, as well as day desk coverage. - Create programs for the residence hall students - educational and social events and activities for residents to get involved.
- Respond to student resident needs and concerns, make referrals when appropriate to other campus offices, staff or faculty.
- Assist in policy education and enforcement.
- Help to ensure the health and safety of student residents through incident response and routine health and safety inspections.
- Assist in administrative responsibilities: room preparations, room condition reports, suite inspections, incident reports, check in/check out processes, office coverage, administrative paperwork and/or other tasks as assigned.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings and a larger monthly meeting of all housing and residence life personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Peer Navigator Responsibilities
- Facilitate orientations during the summer and January sessions.
- Attend Mandatory Paid Training: July 29th through August 09th, & January 6th through 7th.
- Plan and organize activities for first year students throughout the school year.
- Conduct campus tours and workshops for both new and current MCC students.
- Assist in staffing the MCC Trib411 Information Desk.
- Engage and mentor new students in person and through online platforms, including social media.
- Work signature events at MCC ( MCC Open House, Admitted Student Day, etc.)
- Attend weekly staff meetings on Mondays at 4:00pm.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation & Benefits
- Bi-weekly cash stipend.
- Free Residence Hall single room for Fall 24/Spring 25 (student is responsible for submitting Housing Application and paying deposit).
- Larger bi-weekly cash stipend for students not able to live in the residence halls.
- Limited meals provided during training and college events.
- Learn and develop transferable skills useful for future employment.

Step 1: Attend A Mandatory Information Session
- Thursday, February 15, at 6:00pm in the Canal Hall Lobby
- Wednesday, February 28, at 12:00pm in the Prism Center (First Floor next to Deja Brew Coffee Shop)
- Tuesday, March 5, at 6:00pm in the Canal Hall Lobby
- Wednesday, March 6, at 3:00pm in the Prism Center (First Floor next to Deja Brew Coffee Shop)
Step 2: Submit Application & Reference Questionnaire Form

All Applications must be received before 4:00pm on Friday, March 8th.
Step 3: Attend Individual Interview
You will be invited to an individual interview with members of the selection committee.
Step 4: Attend Group Interview
All applicants must attend the Group Interview on Friday, April 14, from 2:00 to 5:00pm.
